My name is Felix, and I’m the Founder of Spark. My journey began with a unique upbringing; from the ages of four to eighteen, I lived in London, Oxford, Manila, and Hong Kong. This diverse exposure honed my ability to analyse culture and aesthetics, particularly during my time in Hong Kong, which deeply influenced my creative perspective. My professional path really took off when I returned to London and enrolled at Goldsmiths. I experienced a powerful culture shock, discovering a world of radical self-expression that I hadn’t truly been exposed to before. While I was studying Media and Communications, I found my true education in the underground creative culture surrounding me.
I believe in taking bold steps rather than waiting for permission. When the COVID pandemic struck, and university strikes left me frustrated and jobless, I pivoted. I launched a vintage clothing store, built a vibrant community of over 10,000 followers, and successfully sold over 300 pieces of clothing. This venture led me into freelance photography and videography, where I had the privilege of working with global brands like Dr. Martens and filming emerging artists such as PinkPantheress. I became an integral part of the creative gig economy.
A pivotal moment came when a friend asked me to design a clothing collection for his album rollout. This ignited my passion for mastering physical design, so I taught myself to sew and found work at a tailor to learn the craft from experts. My dedication to high-quality craftsmanship paid off – I sold my first independent collection for £3,000.
This success propelled me to enter a prestigious international design competition hosted by Be Still Media. I’m excited to share that I won a $10,000 fellowship and will be travelling to Washington D.C. in October 2026 to present my work.
As my profile rose, I sought full-time opportunities to further my career, only to encounter a major obstacle: the recruitment system in the creative industries is fundamentally flawed. The hiring process relies on outdated methods, such as scattered PDFs and unverified Instagram links, making it challenging for both talented creatives and agencies looking to hire them.
Having experienced these frustrations firsthand, I recognised the potential to make a lasting impact. That’s why I founded Spark: a revolutionary visual-first platform designed to streamline the recruitment process for the premium creative economy. Together, we can reshape the future of creative hiring.
